About this chapter
The Bowel Cancer Screening chapter of the National Cancer Prevention Policy was developed in 2010 and 2011 by Cancer Council Australia's Bowel Cancer Screening Committee, a subcommittee of its principal Public Health Committee. The chapter was externally reviewed in late 2010 by Professor Carlene Wilson, Chair in Cancer Prevention at Flinders University; and Dr Hooi Ee, head of Gastroenterology, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth. It is updated as significant new literature is published or changes in the policy environment occur. A review of the chapter's policy priorities may follow the announcement of the 2012-13 federal budget, which may include funds for an expansion of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program.
