Key Facts

Study Design

cohort study

Study aims:

To examine the clinical characteristics of paediatric patients with locally invasive or regionally metastatic melanoma and investigates how these patients tolerated HDI therapy.

Number of Patients:

14

Reported outcome(s):

 All patients had wide local excision (WLE)
 All patients had SLN biopsy, 11 with a positive result
 12 of 14 patients had lymph node dissections (LND)
o 5 inguinal LND
o 6 neck LND
o 1 axillary LND
 Follow-up: Patients were alive for a range of 9-121 months
o Mean: 41 months
o Median: 24.5 months

Overall, the study concludes that although the toxicity of HDI therapy can be substantial, results from this study demonstrates that this population tolerates HDI at least as well, if not better than the adult population
