Risk of bias
High risk of bias Comments: Case/service report. Any outcomes reported were patient numbers and appropriateness of referral, not on privacy/confidentiality outcomes
Size of effect
5 Reason for decision: Unable to assess size of effect, teleconsultation numbers are reported on in terms of usefulness or eligibility for the TENPET (Trans European Network for Positron Emission Tomography) but not in context of achieving privacy/confidentiality.
Relevance of evidence
5 Additional comments: The paper provides a highly technical explanation on how security regarding IT access and use is maintained. it provides commentary on a comparison between two systems (Jabber and VPN). However, no quantitative comparison is made and no evidence produced as to actual effectiveness. The paper states that Jabber is more flexible than VPN while being more secure. However the scope of 'security' is this context not fully defined.

Comments

This paper may be used as LOW level evidence for use of VPN or jabber as systems that are flexible for remote telehealth use but secure enough to maintain patient privacy/confidentiality.
