The model

Teleoncology models of care offer the opportunity for patients living outside of major metropolitan centres to access clinical trials closer to home, reducing the need for travel. The Australasian Teletrial Model was developed by the COSA Regional and Rural Group and is endorsed by the COSA Council. Using telehealth, patients from rural and regional centres (satellite centres) can be recruited and treated closer to home by linking with primary trial centres (Figure One). While the principles of operation for the primary and satellite centres are the same, site specific governance and processes need to be developed for effective implementation.
