Our laboratory undertakes research and published on lung cancer biomarkers and has in the past undertaken contract lung cancer immunohistochemical research for an Industry study. I was previously an Investigator for a lung cancer clinical trial of gefitinib (Astra Zeneca study). I have occasionally received stationery and minor gifts from Industry and attended/spoken at meetings organised by pharmaceutical companies where meals/travel costs would be sponsored – any honorariums offered have been directed to charities or universities or declined. I do not sit on any Industry Advisory Boards and have no stocks or shares in Pharmaceutical companies excepting any in superannuation funds. I organise the Queensland Lung Cancer Interest Group Meeting (videoconference meetings supported by industry). I have also been involved in organising and attending professional meetings including those run by the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, Asia-Pacific Society of Respirology, Australian Lung Cancer Conference, World Lung Cancer Conference (International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer), where some sponsorship is provided by Industry. I am Chair of the Australian Lung Foundation’s Lung Cancer Cooperative Group (not-for-profit, public benevolent institution). The ALF receives support from pharmaceutical companies. I was the inaugural Chair of the Australian Lung Cancer trials Group (ALTG) which had received sponsorship funding from pharmaceutical companies. I am part of a research team undertaking a Low dose CT study of lung cancer screening in Qld (QLCSS) and has applied for NHMRC funding for further research in this area with Canadian collaborators.
